What is an open step?

When installing the boxes for your stairs, you may encounter difficulties with fitting the last steps. In fact, the slab may prevent you from sliding the last step(s) from the side if your opening (stairwell) is not wide enough.

In such cases, you will need an open step: a box that is not only open on the side but also at the back. This allows you to slide the step in from the front of the staircase and secure it without difficulty.

The step is slid in from the front because it is impossible to slide it in from the side.

To cover the back of the open box, if it is not flush with the slab nose, you will need to add a cover that fits inside the box. This cover, made from the same material as the step, ensures a seamless integration.
Monolith will guide you in deciding whether to order one or more open steps. An open step will not incur any additional cost, however, the rear cover, if needed, will be charged at €20 excluding VAT.
