What is a suspended staircase?
A suspended staircase is distinguished from other types of staircases by the floating appearance of its steps. These steps, fixed directly to the wall with no visible support, create an impression of lightness and grace. The suspended staircase is one of the most aesthetic and design-oriented choices for your interior. It transforms a simple functional element into a true centerpiece of your interior decor.
How are the steps of a floating staircase supported?
The steps of a suspended staircase are securely attached to the wall with hidden metal supports covered by a wooden or concrete casing. Traditionally, these supports are welded to a central stringer or directly anchored to the wall using the Monolith kit.
How to install a suspended staircase?
The installation of a floating staircase can be done by two people, either on your own or with the help of a local craftsman. The installation process is fully guided by a layout plan provided, and each of the two installation stages will typically take no more than half a day.
Is a suspended staircase dangerous?
A suspended staircase, despite its floating appearance, is no more dangerous than a traditional staircase. Each step can withstand a heavy load, even at the end. To ensure your safety, Monolith recommends installing a handrail and offers several solutions to maintain the minimalist style of your staircase.
What type of handrails are suitable for a floating staircase?
There are several types of handrails for suspended staircases, attached directly to the ends of the step supports. The most common is the glass handrail. This type of handrail maintains the floating and minimalist appearance of the staircase due to its transparency while providing high safety with its special high-strength glass.
